Dear Sir/Madam
Career Application for Junior Animal Management Officer at the Night Safari
I refer to the career opportunity as advertised on your website for a chance to apply for the career of a Junior Animal Management Officer. As a person, I have always been interested in animal behaviors and believe in preserving and protecting wildlife since a young age. Although I am a fresh graduate, I believe that my qualifications in the life sciences and experience as a tutor will help me excel in this position.
The Wildlife Reserves Singapore strives to achieve the goal of protecting and caring for our wildlife, placing importance on teamwork, innovation, professionalism and good communication skills. In my education career, I have been exposed to various positions in a team; flexibility and adaptability are key skills I have acquired in order to perform well in teams. I also have experience creating various types of lessons for students and mentees with differing needs, thus I believe I have the innovation to help design animal management techniques. The Zoo’s emphasis on psychological enclosures is a concept I am well aware of and I am interested in contributing by improving the concept through creativity as well. I have also taken relevant life sciences, writing programme and communication modules to equip myself better for this type of career. Hence, I believe my experience as a student and tutor has equipped me with the professional, writing and communication skills necessary to perform research, write scientific reports well, and to relate the importance of wildlife conservation to the general public.
Attached is a copy of my resume, which more fully details my qualifications for the position.
I enthusiastically look forward to discovering new techniques of animal management and contribute to Wildlife Reserves Singapore. Within the next week I will contact you to confirm that you received my letter of application and resume and to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you very kindly for your consideration.
Yours faithfully

hey!
ReplyDeleteI thought your first line of 2 paragraph was redundant since they will know their requirements and focus. If not the whole letter is fine to me.
I see your make changes to the "ability to write scientific reports" requirements that we discussed last Friday during lesson. it's better know as you talked more about it.:)
Looks good.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you could rephrase the 1st sentence of paragraph 4 - 'and contributing to Wilflife Reserves Singapore.
You could also create a more professional-sounding email address.
Other than that, the application looks ready to be sent in.
After JC, my friend and I wanted so desperately to work part-time at the zoo as guid or trainer, sounds so cool, we went for interviews and were not selected, were so disappointed.
ReplyDeleteYou could consider adding in more personal details to let the reader know more about you, your extra curriculum activities, your interests, your personalities etc. You can break up the second paragraph to 2 or 3, with a topic sentence in each one. so when the reader skim through, she will not miss anything.
=)
Hi there,
ReplyDeleteinteresting job! ;) but i think " As a person, .." (1st para, 2nd line) sounds a little funny. Maybe you can ommit that. (:
